Installation
Download and install Astrolabe on macOS, Windows, or Linux
Get Astrolabe up and running on your machine in just a few minutes.
System Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later
- Intel or Apple Silicon processor
- 4 GB RAM minimum (8 GB recommended)
- 500 MB free disk space
Recommended:
- macOS 12 (Monterey) or later
- Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) for best performance
Minimum Requirements:
- Windows 10 (64-bit) or later
- 4 GB RAM minimum (8 GB recommended)
- 500 MB free disk space
- WebView2 Runtime (automatically installed)
Recommended:
- Windows 11 for best performance
Minimum Requirements:
- Modern Linux distribution (Ubuntu 20.04+, Fedora 35+, etc.)
- 4 GB RAM minimum (8 GB recommended)
- 500 MB free disk space
- GTK 3 or later

Download Astrolabe
Choose Your Platform
Visit the releases page and download the installer for your operating system:
Download for macOS:
- Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3):
Astrolabe_aarch64.dmg - Intel:
Astrolabe_x64.dmg
Not sure which one? Go to → About This Mac. If it says "Apple M1/M2/M3", download the aarch64 version.
Download for Windows:
Astrolabe_x64_setup.exe- Standard installerAstrolabe_x64.msi- MSI installer for enterprise
The .exe installer is recommended for most users. The MSI installer is provided for system administrators.
Download for Linux:
- Debian/Ubuntu:

astrolabe.x86_64.rpm - AppImage:
Astrolabe_x86_64.AppImage
The AppImage works on most distributions without installation. Just make it executable and run it.
Install the Application
- Open the downloaded
.dmgfile - Drag Astrolabe to your Applications folder
- Launch Astrolabe from Applications
First Launch Security:
If you see "Astrolabe.app can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer":
- Right-click on Astrolabe in Applications
- Select "Open"
- Click "Open" in the dialog
Alternative method:
# Remove quarantine attribute
xattr -cr /Applications/Astrolabe.app- Run the downloaded
.exeinstaller - Follow the installation wizard
- Launch Astrolabe from the Start Menu or Desktop shortcut
WebView2 Runtime:
The installer will automatically install WebView2 if it's not already present on your system.
Windows may show a SmartScreen warning. Click "More info" then "Run anyway" to proceed.
Debian/Ubuntu:
sudo dpkg -i astrolabe_amd64.deb
sudo apt-get install -f # Install dependencies if neededFedora/RHEL:

If you encounter errors, install required libraries:

Launch Astrolabe and verify it opens successfully. You should see the welcome screen with options to:
- Add scan directories
- Configure settings
- Start scanning for projects

Updating Astrolabe
Astrolabe will notify you when updates are available. To update:
- Download the latest version from the releases page
- Install the new version (it will replace the old one)
- Your settings and data are preserved
Uninstalling
- Move Astrolabe from Applications to Trash
- (Optional) Remove application data:
rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/com.astrolabe.app
rm -rf ~/Library/Logs/com.astrolabe.app- Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps
- Find Astrolabe and click Uninstall
- (Optional) Remove application data:
Remove-Item -Recurse -Force $env:APPDATA\com.astrolabe.appDebian/Ubuntu:
sudo apt remove astrolabeFedora:
sudo dnf remove astrolabeAppImage: Simply delete the AppImage file.
(Optional) Remove application data:
rm -rf ~/.local/share/com.astrolabe.appTroubleshooting
